A Strudel, With a Moral
2025-12-26 – Long ago – almost fifteen years back...
Long ago – almost fifteen years back – I had a favorite pastry. Kulinichi, a well-known bakery chain in Kharkiv, sold raspberry strudels for just four and a half hryvnias. Warm, sweet, soft puff pastry with a lightly crisp crust, scored with small cuts through which the deep ruby filling showed through.
Long ago – about ten years back – I ate my last raspberry strudel. They simply stopped selling them, and after I moved, Kulinichi disappeared from my life altogether. The pastry I loved turned into a pleasant memory.
So where does the moral come in? It’s in the cuts. Look inside. Or even take a bite. You decide for yourself what this strudel tastes like.
